On the past weekend (July 18-19) 168 sailors (127 boats) in 7 classes competed in SMSC's annual The Bay The Wind The Regatta. The weather was challenging for both competitors and the race committee with heavy rain on much of Saturday and thick fog delayed the start of racing on both days. Despite these challenges, between 4 and 6 races, depending in the class, were run.

The event ended in sunshine with a well-attended awards ceremony in the clubhouse.

In addition, The Nova Scotia Yachting Association awarded three provincial championships this weekend as part of the  regatta. These included:

1. Danielle Dube, from SMSC, captured the Laser Radial championships.
2. Daniel Baker and Adam Taylor won the Under 18 championships for their first place finish in the 420 Class.
3. 2009 Laser Provincial Champion is Evan Lewis from the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in Toronto.
