A brief visit to the club today (Tuesday) clearly showed me that we are ready to host the world! All the facilities are in place - there are even hot showers for the athletes down by the water!

Large tents are poised near Croucher's Point road to provide for food service and shelter from the Sun (and hopefully not the rain). 180+ new laser boats are all over the place on the site.

There are also parking restrictions on parts of Croucher's Point Road and also along the Peggy's Cove Rd. Bear this in mind if you plan to visit the club - I plan to bring my bicycle!

Yesterday and today were registration and measurement days. The staff told me that nearly all athletes in the Senior event have checked in. Registration continues tomorrow (Wednesday) when there will also be a practice race and opening ceremonies. Racing begins on Thursday and continues for 7 days with two planned races per day.

The weather may get interesting late this weekend or early next week as Hurricane Bill may head our way (remember the tropical storm that lashed at the Laser North Americans???)!

If you can't get out on the water to watch or volunteer, don't forget to listen to Nautel Laser World Radio online or over the airwaves in the bay area at 106.3 FM.
