Here is your opportunity to remember a loved one and to enhance the grounds of your club.

We have picked plants that are mostly dwarf, evergreen and hardy. If you have any suggestions for other shrubs, please contact Sue Douglas (826-7961). If you would like to be a volunteer planter, please also contact Sue. If you have any suggestions for other landscaping ideas, please contact Vicki LeBlanc (823-2350).

Follow these steps:

  1. Choose a plant
  2. Choose a bed
  3. Sign up by contacting Sue Douglas at 826-7961
  4. Let Sue or Vicki know the dedication you would like on the memorial plaque.
  5. Sue will contact you and let you know the cost of the plant and plant it for/with you.
  6. There will be an additional $100 one-time maintenance fee to cover the cost of the plaque, fertilizer, and replacement if the plant dies.

The Burning Bush, Euonymus alatus 'Compacta' has an outstanding red fall color. The deep dark red leaves almost glow with color in the fall. The plant is shade tolerant but has inferior fall color and reduced density in shade. Burning Bush transplants easily and may be sheared. The corky wings on the twigs hold winter snow, outlining the branch structure. The orange and red fruit is ornamental if produced in quantity, but plants vary in the amount of fruit they produce. Burning Bush is a favorite winter food of rabbits and mice. This deciduous bush withstands acidic or alkaline soils and a wide range of temperatures. Established plants can take some drought too.

The Coral Red Dogwood, Cornus alba 'Sibirica', has stunning bright red bark which adds color to the winter garden. It has been given an Award of Garden Merit (AM), which is for plants of outstanding excellence. Tolerant of a wide range of soils, it produces the brightest winter bark when planted in full sun. To keep the size of the plant in check and to encourage the most colorful bark, remove a third of the stems back to ground level each spring.

Pieris


A small group of evergreen shrubs in the same family as Rhododendron, Mountain Laurel, and Heaths and Heathers. You've likely admired Pieris for the quiet presence its glossy, dark green foliage and hanging clusters of white blooms bring to shrub borders and foundation plantings. More recent selections are daring extroverts that attract attention with their brightly colored new growth.

Cotoneaster

"Royal Beauty"


The low-growing shrub, C. dammeri 'Royal Beauty' (also called 'Coral Beauty') is a fast-grower. It makes an ideal ground cover for a dry slope but will enhance any well-drained spot with its gracefully arching branches; glossy, evergreen foliage; white blossoms and coral-red berries. More than 200 species of these shrubs and small trees grow in woodlands or on stony sites from Europe to Asia. Their dense flower clusters appear in spring, followed by masses of berries. 1gal pots.
