In 2023, the Learn to Sail Program undertook a review and planning process with the goal of building upon the success of the Club’s grassroots and foundational learn to sail program to create a structure to support and enhance sailor skills and coach development that will lead to a “Path of Excellence.”

The first phase was the launch of the ILCA race team for the 2023 season. The team trained alongside Sail Canada athletes and benefited from enhanced coaching and extra training opportunities. The results were impressive - on the local and National stage.

The yearlong Path to Excellence Fundraising Campaign will look to raise $80,000 to support further development of the plan through the purchase of four race ready c420 dinghies, including trapeze harnesses, sails and other race equipment. In addition, the campaign will support on-going enhanced training and development opportunities for coaches and sailors.

A generous anonymous donor has pledged a matching donation of up to $20,000. This matching support means that all gifts are being matched up to $20,000.

Eligible donations of $25 or more made through the National Sport Trust Fund – St. Margaret Sailing Club – Path To Excellence Learn to Sail Fundraising Campaign will receive a charitable tax receipt.
